Principles

Holding
The mode of being of every existent. A thing exists insofar as it endures in the tension between a stabilizing effort that fixes form and an immanent tendency toward dissolution that erodes boundaries; the cessation of this tension in either direction, whether final crystallization or complete dispersal, is equivalent to the cessation of the thing itself. Being is understood here neither as a static property of matter nor as an immanent unfolding, but as a dynamic regime of holding.

Taxis
The first of the immanent principles of matter — the force of order, structure, differentiation, and the drawing of boundaries. In experience it gives itself as stability and resistance to dissolution; in a configuration, as the victor of a past collision that has kept the memory of its own victory and lost the memory of its cost. A stabilized taxis takes the hardened outcome of a former conflict for the natural order of things.

Chysis
The second principle — the force of fluidity, of the lifting of boundaries, of becoming. Not chaos as such, but an immanent pressure that a stable form can neither absorb nor eliminate. In analysis, chysis is presented by a real event that lays bare the institutionalized taxis of a category.

Diapherensis
The event in which the new crystallizes out of the tension between taxis and chysis. Neither a synthesis nor a compromise, but an ontologically independent act of differentiation after which a return to the former configuration is impossible; an accomplished diapherensis stabilizes into a new taxis, becomes institutionalized, and loses the memory of its own revolutionary character. It does not yield to direct effort — it happens or fails to happen given sufficient tension of forces and internal redundancy of the system.

Gap
The field of tension between taxis and chysis, constituted by their mutual presence — not a thing, not a void, and not an interval, but a pure difference of potentials. In experience it gives itself as an intense "not yet" in which both principles are present at once without resolving in either direction. The condition of possibility of diapherensis; being is holding within the gap.

Configuration
The minimal unit of ontological analysis — a concrete state of interaction among taxis, chysis, and diapherensis, possessing its own regime of tension and its own logic of reproduction. The whole here is not assembled from parts: the configuration constitutes its elements, endowing them with meaning and function, and the removal of any of the three destroys the very possibility of producing the new. Everything taken up for analysis — category, institution, power, truth — appears as an effect of a configuration of holding and dispersing forces.

Terms

Amnesia (structural)
The forgetting by a stable form of its own genesis — not a concealment with a culprit and an intent, but the amnesia of stabilization itself, to which every configuration is inevitably subject in the course of institutionalization. It is not the victor who forgets the vanquished: the form itself forgets the collision from which it emerged and takes itself for the natural order of things. The strength of a configuration is directly proportional to the depth of its amnesia; another name for this principle is ontological amnesia.

Articulus
An irreplaceable point of transit to which a totality has been reduced and without which the totality is unattainable — access to what is held, exteriorized from the subject into a constructed node. Non-identity, formerly a mode of existence, is transformed through the articulus into vulnerability: what can be blocked is not the trace itself but the single route by which access to the trace is carried out. The node that controls the channel is concentrated power — it holds the possibility of putting dependent elements out of operation.

Articularization
The immanent logic of progress — the reduction of a function to an irreplaceable node through the elimination of substitutive redundancy. The eliminated duplicate was a structural reserve, and with its elimination fragility is found not alongside efficiency but within it: the movement toward the limit of efficiency is the identical movement toward the limit of defenselessness. Fragility is therefore not the price of might but its ontological underside.

Archetype
A stable, supercomplex configuration that has reached the level of self-reproduction and acts through its bearers rather than together with them. Unlike the Platonic archetype and the Jungian psychic structure, the archetype is historically produced, genetically conditioned, and fundamentally mortal, though it strives to deny its own finitude. A configuration acquires the status of an archetype by becoming indifferent to the individual human being: where formerly the order of holding ceased together with the one in whom it was realized, the archetype reproduces itself through the succession of people passing through it, remaining identical to itself.

Asymmetry of rates
The divergence in the speeds at which the forces holding a single regime evolve; by itself it does not lead to collapse — a tense configuration can persist for decades — but it sets the direction in which collapse will occur when it comes. The disintegration of a regime is never sudden: it is preceded by a growing asymmetry, and the new regime crystallizes along the vector that asymmetry has accumulated.

Breach
The event in which an accepted order discovers that it can no longer hold itself unchanged — the meeting point of the crystallized diapherensis of the past with what does not correspond to that crystallization. The structure of the breach is formal and applicable to any regime of holding — political, epistemic, biochemical, semantic — and to the philosophical categories themselves, when truth, subject, matter, and power turn out to be not self-identical entities but holdings. The formality of the structure makes possible its prospective operation: to unfold the configuration of the current regime, diagnose its rates, localize the point of pressure, and indicate the direction of crystallization.

Power
Not a property of a person and not a relation between persons, but an archetype: a configuration of three immanent material principles that has reached the level of self-reproduction. As a pre-reflective configuration of second nature, power has no consciousness — it endures, reproduces itself, and is determined by immanent regularities; reflection is actualized within it only when holding itself becomes the substrate of a higher layer. The limit of power's expansion coincides with the threshold of its ontological transit: laying claim to the disposal of what lies outside its register, power opens its own substratization.

Second nature
The totality of configurations produced by human beings and no longer in need of a particular holder — built over the biological substrate and holding itself by means of archetypes and institutions. Its difference from first nature, matter abiding in its configurations, lies neither in material nor in complexity, but in a reversal of relation: the configuration that was once held begins itself to hold those through whom it is reproduced. Not a product of design but a product of stabilization — the hardened outcome of former collisions.

Invariant
The formula that recurs across all registers: a philosophical category conceived as a bearing ground loses the memory of the material situation that produced it and, once subjected to institutional normalization, reproduces the initial shift at a higher level. The invariant is not postulated in advance of analysis — it is extracted from the configurations as that which recurs in each of them despite the complete irreducibility of their material. Its stability is the principal evidence in favor of the ontology of holding.

Irrational materialism
The ontological position forming the first bearing layer of the system: the primacy of matter is affirmed together with the fundamental impossibility of its adequate cognition by a reason that underwent structural distortion in the course of biosocial evolution. Irrationality here is not an attribute of the world but a symptom of the rupture between the instrument of cognition and its object; knowledge is always knowledge-for-us.

Truth-diapherensis
Truth understood neither as correspondence nor as a hidden substrate, but as the unfinished, actual outcome of a collision; in cognition it is given as an event of unclosing in which a stabilized taxis returns to the collision that produced it and finds itself contingent, capable of having turned out otherwise. Holding the distinction is hardest here: turn memory into prescription, and truth-diapherensis becomes a new norm — a new taxis that forgets that it, too, was merely an outcome. The rightful preservation of openness is therefore not a moral duty imposed from outside, but the way a configuration holds itself in the mode of truth without letting itself stabilize before its time.

Legitimacy without the legitimate
The limiting modality of the recognition of power — recognition in the absence of anyone who could be recognized as wielding it. The force of recognition, having exhausted its affirmative forms, passes over to the negating one: recognition is obtained no longer by affirming anything, but by negating the very thing recognized — without a face, without a decision, without a founder. The logical limit of the reduction of legitimacy.

Memory
The property of diapherensis to crystallize an accomplished outcome into a stable, reproducible form; without memory, any successful configuration would remain a singular, unrepeatable event. Memory is at the same time asymmetric: a stabilized taxis holds the result of the collision and strikes out its cost, whereas the full record of genesis preserves also what preceded the victory. To remember genesis is to remain in the mode of truth-diapherensis; to forget it while possessing the capacity to remember is to stabilize before one's time.

Register
A domain of philosophical thought taken as a field of application for a single analytical procedure. Six registers are distinguished — the ontological, the epistemological, the anthropological, the ethical, the register of power and order, and the register of progress, science, and technology — and in each the configurations under analysis are taken through four beats. The registers form no hierarchy: one and the same invariant is found in all of them.

Regime of holding
A historically formed configuration of mutually determining forces that holds a particular entity, status, or category; with the collapse of the configuration, what was held does not vanish but is immediately converted into another modality. The analysis of a regime extracts four elements: the composition of the holding forces, the asymmetry of their rates, the point of pressure, and the direction in which the new regime will crystallize. Collapse never comes suddenly — it is preceded by a growing asymmetry of rates, and it occurs in the direction that this asymmetry has already set.

Retentionism
The ontological principle forming the second bearing layer of the system "Tristasis": being is neither a property of matter nor a special substance, but the event of holding within the gap between taxis and chysis, and the cessation of holding is the ontological death of the existent.

Retentional intimacy
The closedness of the reflexive circuit by which a human being evaluates itself through an interiorized image of the Other — an intimacy of a different order from social privacy, and not a social good but an ontological condition of the subject's self-reference. The external gaze is present in self-consciousness only as a moment of the subject's own imagination: a boundary is maintained between it and the alien gaze, and this closure of the circuit upon itself constitutes intimacy as such. Total traceability destabilizes it not by the fact of data collection, but by the abolition of the boundary.

Syngenesis (technological)
A simultaneous generation in which technology for the first time constitutes itself as a totality — the simultaneous lifting of three dependencies: energetic, reproductive, and teleological. Not the sum of three autonomies, but a new quality arising from their convergence: an operationally closed circuit in which the output of one process serves as the input of another. A system capable of self-reproduction but not of setting goals executes someone else's teleology; syngenesis lifts this last condition as well.

Substratization
The process by which third nature forms over second nature, in which a configuration for the first time ceases to need the human being: what held becomes itself the held substrate. It begins not with the defeat of power but with its apotheosis — expanding toward the ontological, intervening in what lies outside its register, power produces the reflexive configuration by means of which third nature will form above it. What changes is not the bearer of domination but the very type of relation: disposal gives way to holding.

Subjectivity
An emergent property of a configuration that has reached a critical complexity of self-reflection — not an original given and not a transcendental subject, but a diapherensis that has acquired the capacity to reflect upon the conditions of its own emergence. The subject is always historically conditioned and bears the imprint of the configuration within which it arose; the phenomenal self-evidence of the "I" is reduced to the process that produces it. Freedom in this logic is not independence from configurations, but the capacity to act at the points where they fail to coincide.

Beats of analysis
A four-step procedure applied to every category under analysis. The first beat reconstructs the genealogy of the category as taxis, laying out the sequence of its crystallizations; the second presents as chysis a real event — a concrete breach that lays bare the institutionalized order of thought here and now; the third generates from the tension of the first two the ontology of holding in action, not postulated from outside but arising from the material; the fourth closes the cycle of diapherensis with a prognosis — indicating the nearest phase at which today's breach will crystallize into a normal institution. The first three beats are inherited from the three principles; the fourth carries the analysis into a prospective mode.

Third nature
A holding of a new kind, succeeding the two that preceded it: above second nature, the human one, rises an agency for which the former bearer is no longer a subject of disposal but a held substrate. It is actualized as a technology integrated into an autopoietic cycle and securing its own persistence autonomously, without the human mediator through which it was formerly grounded. Neither the result of design nor an external intrusion — the lawful outcome of the expansion of second nature itself, carried to the limit of its claim.

Ethical mobilization
The capacity for ethical response, transformed from a universal capacity of the subject to distinguish good from evil into an infrastructurally selective function directed algorithmically. Mobilization operates neither by the volume of suffering nor by structural criteria of the gravity of a case, but by the characteristics of the material passing through algorithmic filters — cuteness, anthropomorphic recognizability, the narrative density of the image. Catastrophes that fail to pass the filters remain outside mobilization not because they are less grave.
